Happy New Year! I know it is a little late, but I figured it is okay since it is my first post of the year. I hope your year is off to a great start!
It feels like forever since I last sat down to write a post here, but I realized that it has only been 2 months. This wasn’t an intentional break. One week just turned into two and then into three. Has that ever happened to you?
Whenever someone asked me why I stopped blogging or took a break from blogging, I would always say it was to focus on my other job which pays the bills. A lot of you guys are also bloggers so you know how much time and effort goes into each blog post, not to mention social media. Even though that is what I told other people, I always knew I stopped because I didn’t feel inspired.
As I was telling my friend who is an artist why I stopped blogging, she simply held up her hand and said, “Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.” I later found out that Stephen King originally said it, but wow, this quote hit home.
When she said the above quote to me, it forced me to really sit and think about the future of this site. Ultimately, it was the kick in the ass I needed to get back here and reconnect the community I’ve grown to enjoy. I’ll be completely honest. I don’t exactly know what the end goal of the site is and in some ways that is kind of freeing. I will always focus on fashion and travel, but I’m toying around with other areas of content to share. But the thing I love the most about blogging is the community and the amazing women I’ve had the chance to meet. If in some small way if we can connect, share with each other, and learn from each other, I will be very happy with this little corner of the internet.
