Even though I love getting dressed up for work and finding that perfect outfit (one of the benefits of working in a very stylish office), there are those days when I am running late and just need something that will make me look pulled together fast.  On those days, I tend to reach for a dress (always an easy choice) or my go-to basics of jeans and white top.  When I was in graduate school, I could get away with a white t-shirt, but I’ve had to step up my game now that I’m back in the working world.

I think I have mentioned that I hate to iron, so thankfully I found a non-iron oxford that fits really well at Banana Republic, which has eased my transition away from the white t-shirt.  Add an well-fitting pair of jeans and statement necklace and you have an instantly polished outfit, which is so easy for when you are running late.

You may have seen this outfit on my Instagram here.  I captured it before I spilled my coffee down the front of my shirt on the way to work.  Thankfully, I keep a blazer on the back of my chair at work since I didn’t have a Tide Pen handy….

What are your go to basics?

Have a great day!
